Getting dressed shouldn't feel like a struggle. If you're a curvy woman, you've probably spent time trying to find outfits that flatter your shape and feel comfortable. The good news? You don’t need a massive wardrobe, you just need a few go-to outfit formulas that work every time. As a personal stylist I help my clients to incorporate the right outfit formulas that work really well for their wardrobe everyday.
Here are 5 easy outfit formulas to help you get dressed with confidence:
1, The “Fit & Flare” outfit Formula
Fitted top + Flared skirt or wide-leg trousers + Waist definition
Why it works: This combo balances your proportions and draws attention to your waist. It highlights your curves in the best way without clinging to the wrong places.
Try this: A tucked-in blouse + a midi A-line skirt + a belt or shaped waistband.

Try this: A tucked-in top + a midi A-line skirt + a belt or shaped waistband.
2. The “Layered” Look
Core basics + Longline blazer or jacket + Heeled boot or trainer
Why it works: A longer layer smooths your silhouette and creates vertical lines that elongate your frame. This outfit formula is also called Column dressing
Try this: Black wide leg trousers + a simple vest top + a tailored blazers + trainers.

You can also use items such a thin longline cardigans, shirts or kimonos to create cool layers to an outfit
3. The “One & Done” Dress Trick
Wrap dress, a shirt dress or a dress with a interesting neckline
Why it works: A great dress does all the work. Wrap styles are especially flattering on curves and give waist definition without feeling tight. Pair with sandals or trainers.
Try this: A shirt dress + pointy heels + gold hoops. Love this look below

I love a sweetheart neckline on a dress. This type of neckline also creates a focal point drawing the eye away from other areas and the busy print cleverly camouflages lumps and bumps that you might prefer to hide,
4. The “Smart Casual Switch-Up”
Dark denim + basic t-shirt + layered white shirt
Why it works: Dark jeans slim the lower half while a soft, white shirt adds ease and flow. or you can switch the white shirt with a blazer or shacket that adds structure on top.

Try this: Indigo jeans + silk or jersey top + check blazer + loafers or low heels.

5. The “Monochrome Magic” Move
Same-colour top and bottom + Layer or accessory in a pop colour
Why it works: Wearing one colour from head to toe makes you look taller and more streamlined. It’s sleek and easy to style.
Try this: All-black outfit + tan accessories

Wearing a co-ord like this is also great way to wear one block colour from head to toe. This outfit formula is great as it also helps to elongate the frame
Final Tips:
Define your waist: Even if you don't always show it, clothes that highlight the narrowest part of your torso create beautiful balance.

Choose fabrics that move: Soft knits, structured cotton, and stretch fabrics support your shape without squeezing.
High waisted: Wearing high waist trousers helps to elongate a curvy frame
Don’t shy away from tailoring: A nip and tuck can turn “meh” into “wow.”
