It naturally allows air to circulate, absorbs moisture well and doesn't cling to your skin.

For curvier figures, linen dresses, oversized shirts and wide-leg linen trousers create beautiful movement while allowing your body to breathe. Yes, linen creases, but that's part of its effortless charm.

If you prefer a more polished look, look for linen blended with a small amount of viscose, lyocell or elastane. These blends soften the fabric, improve the drape and reduce creasing without sacrificing breathability.

Cotton Isn't Just Cotton

Viscose: One of Summer's Best-Kept Secrets

Viscose is often misunderstood. Although it's a regenerated fibre made from wood pulp, high-quality viscose behaves very differently from synthetic fabrics like polyester. It feels cool against the skin, drapes beautifully over curves and creates movement rather than clinging to the body.

Many of my favourite summer dresses contain viscose because they skim the body beautifully while helping you stay comfortable.

Lyocell (TENCEL™)

If you see Lyocell or TENCEL™ on a label, it's definitely worth trying.

It's incredibly soft, breathable and drapes beautifully, making it an excellent choice for women who want elegant clothing without feeling overheated. I recently bought a dress from the brand No body's child and it had Lyocell fabric which felt comfortable on all day. Many premium brands now blend linen with Lyocell to create garments that crease less while still feeling wonderfully cool.

Cupro: The Luxury Fabric You May Not Know

Cupro is one of fashion's hidden gems. Made from cotton by-products, it has a silky feel without trapping heat. It glides over the body, making it particularly flattering for curvier women who don't enjoy stiff or clingy fabrics. You'll often find Cupro in elegant blouses, dresses and relaxed tailoring.

Ramie: The Lesser-Known Natural Fibre

Don't Forget About the Cut

The coolest fabric in the world won't help if the garment is too tight.

I always encourage my clients to choose silhouettes that allow airflow around the body.
